Aurora HealthCare, the company that owns Aurora and operates the city’s hospitals and clinics, says it is not currently seeking a buyer for the city.

However, if a sale were to take place, Aurora would continue to operate its hospitals, clinics and health care system, according to an email obtained by Next Big Tomorrow.

“We have a long-standing agreement to buy Aurora’s assets in 2024,” Aurora CEO and president John G. Kline said in the email.

“In the event that we were to be unable to enter into a sale of our assets in the future, Aurora will continue to provide the best healthcare services for all our residents and all Aurora residents.”

Kline did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

Aurora has a long history of public service in Aurora.

The city’s health department was created in 1918.

Aurora Healthcare is based in the Denver area, but has operated hospitals in Aurora since at least 2007.

In a statement, the Aurora corporation said, “The Aurora Healthcare Corp. is not in a position to make any comment at this time.
